FAQ
- Why would I convert WebP to JPEG?
- JPEG is more universally supported in legacy software, email clients, and some CMS platforms that do not yet handle WebP. Converting ensures compatibility.
- Does conversion affect quality?
- Re-encoding as JPEG introduces lossy compression. If the source WebP was lossy, some further quality loss is unavoidable. Use a high quality setting (85+) to minimise artefacts.
- What happens to transparency?
- JPEG does not support transparency. Any transparent pixels in the WebP will be filled with white in the JPEG output.
The WebP to JPEG converter loads a WebP file, renders it on an HTML canvas, and exports it as a JPEG using canvas.toBlob with adjustable quality. The original WebP size and the resulting JPEG size are displayed so you can assess the trade-off. Transparent areas in the WebP source are composited against a white background.
