FAQ
- Which browsers support HEIC?
- Safari on macOS 10.13+ and iOS 11+ supports HEIC natively. Chrome and Firefox do not include a HEIC decoder. If you see an error, open the tool in Safari.
- Why are my iPhone photos in HEIC format?
- Apple uses HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default on iPhone and iPad because it achieves roughly half the file size of JPEG with comparable visual quality.
- What quality setting should I choose?
- A quality of 85 is a good balance — it produces files significantly smaller than the source while preserving visual detail. Lower values increase compression and may introduce JPEG artefacts.
The HEIC to JPEG converter attempts to load a HEIC or HEIF file using the browser's native image decoder and export it as a JPEG. Safari on macOS and iOS supports HEIC natively, making conversion seamless. Chrome and Firefox do not support HEIC decoding as of 2026. A clear error message is shown when the browser cannot decode the file.
