FAQ

Which browsers support HEIC?
Safari on macOS 10.13+ and iOS 11+ supports HEIC natively. Chrome and Firefox do not include a HEIC decoder. If you see an error, open the tool in Safari.
Why are my iPhone photos in HEIC format?
Apple uses HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default on iPhone and iPad because it achieves roughly half the file size of JPEG with comparable visual quality.
What quality setting should I choose?
A quality of 85 is a good balance — it produces files significantly smaller than the source while preserving visual detail. Lower values increase compression and may introduce JPEG artefacts.

The HEIC to JPEG converter attempts to load a HEIC or HEIF file using the browser's native image decoder and export it as a JPEG. Safari on macOS and iOS supports HEIC natively, making conversion seamless. Chrome and Firefox do not support HEIC decoding as of 2026. A clear error message is shown when the browser cannot decode the file.
