FAQ

What is a BIN or IIN?
BIN stands for Bank Identification Number (now officially called IIN — Issuer Identification Number). It is the first 6 to 8 digits of a payment card number. These digits identify the institution that issued the card and are used by merchants and payment processors to route transactions.
How accurate is card type detection?
Network detection (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) is highly accurate as it is based on standardised prefix ranges. Card category (credit/debit/prepaid) is approximate since a given BIN range can include multiple card products depending on the issuing bank.
Is this a live BIN database?
No. This tool uses a hardcoded set of well-known BIN ranges for major card networks. It does not query a live database and does not cover all possible BINs. For production use, consider a dedicated BIN lookup API.

Enter the first 6 to 8 digits of a card number (the BIN or IIN — Bank/Issuer Identification Number) to identify the card network, approximate card category (credit, debit, prepaid), and issuing region. Useful for routing payment flows, displaying the correct card logo, or understanding card data in payment logs.
